Important limitations

Personal reflection, not medical care
Mood Tracker is a personal journal and reflection tool. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a condition, assess clinical risk, or replace care from a qualified professional. Charts, reports, general suggestions and AI reflections are not advice from a doctor. Do not start, stop or change medication or treatment based on app output. A clinician may find your records useful as context, but an exported report is not a clinical assessment.
No monitoring or emergency response
The app does not monitor your safety, detect emergencies, contact emergency services or automatically alert clinicians or trusted people. Sharing a report does not mean anyone has read it or is monitoring you. Support email is not continuously monitored. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service.
What the data can and cannot show
Your journal reflects what you chose to record, when you recorded it and the optional fields you completed. Unrecorded days and missing ratings mean unknown. Mood frequency is not a diagnosis or a measure of emotional severity. Heat-map shading represents check-in counts. Logging more often can change the apparent pattern.
Comparisons and associations do not prove that one activity, habit or treatment caused a change. Small or uneven samples can be misleading. Filters, date boundaries and time zones affect which records appear. Different scales should not be treated as interchangeable. Graph lines connect recorded points visually; they do not measure values between check-ins. Review dates, counts, scales and original values before drawing conclusions.
AI can make mistakes
AI-generated reflection questions may be inaccurate, incomplete, unsuitable or inconsistent. They are not personalized medical advice and have not established a diagnosis or an ideal target for you. Skip reflections that do not help. Review the dates, recorded values and source information accompanying a reflection.
Source-linked general wellbeing information may be useful background, but a research finding does not establish that a suggestion is appropriate for a particular person. Links are informational, not endorsements by the publisher, researcher, Apple or a clinician. The app does not invent medically optimal graph values.
Optional services and availability
Apple Intelligence, iCloud and notifications depend on supported hardware, software, settings and service availability. Permissions can be denied or revoked. Sync, reminders, sharing and AI responses are not guaranteed to be available or immediate. The journal's manual features remain useful without optional AI. A successful local save is not proof that a cloud copy has updated.
Backups and sharing
Keep backups if the information is important to you. Device loss, uninstalling, storage problems and software issues can affect availability. A report is a selected summary, not a complete backup. Review reports and destinations before sharing. Recipients can keep or forward copies; revocation cannot erase them. Do not put sensitive journal material in public GitHub issues or comments.
