Mood Tracker release notes
Updated September 30, 2026. These notes describe the current release candidate. App Store availability and approval are not yet confirmed.
Version 1.0 candidate
- Record a mood in one tap, then optionally add ratings, detailed feelings, written or voice notes, activities, food and drink context.
- Browse your journal and descriptive charts, with connected timelines that preserve missing days and monthly mood calendars.
- Review weekly summaries, a personal baseline, things you marked as helpful and private life events.
- Use adaptive iPhone and iPad layouts, landscape orientation and larger text.
- Choose an optional device-authentication journal lock. Keep history indefinitely or review and confirm older entries before deleting them.
- Preview and share PDF reports with explicit date and private-text choices. Full JSON backups retain the complete journal.
- Choose optional private iCloud synchronization and local reminders.
- Optional on-device AI reflection questions require a compatible Apple Intelligence device and a ready model. Cloud-assisted AI is disabled.
Changes for existing test installations
Explore feelings now offers an alphabetical list of the app’s 44 mood words. Existing saved feeling paths remain readable, editable, searchable and included in charts and reports. Update all syncing devices to build 4 or later before saving new selections; older test builds may reject newer labels.
Circle invitations and online report publication are retired. Reports now opens PDF sharing. Previously published reports and recipients’ saved copies are not automatically removed. Ask my journal and its Siri shortcuts are disabled.
Update every syncing device before using this version. The current journal format includes private life events and what-helped feedback; older app versions may not read it. Export a full backup before changing devices or troubleshooting. A PDF is not a complete journal backup.
Limitations
Mood Tracker is a reflection tool, not a medical assessment or emergency service. No one monitors check-ins. Missing data is unknown, and observed associations do not prove causes. Voice recordings, life events and what-helped feedback are excluded from PDF reports. The full journal has a 20 MB limit. See the support guide, privacy policy and important limitations.
